Environmental Control for Biology (Biotron Application Center)

Biotron Application Center is established in April 2011 by the reorganization of Biotron Institute. The missions of this center are to support application research from the findings of basic biological sciences in Kyushu University, and provide the environmentally regulated laboratory spaces to the researchers in the university. The center has facilities for controlling biological environment and equipped instruments for chemical analysis, image analyzer, etc. to analyze the response of organisms under environmental changes. The academic achievements contribute to development of advanced technology in agricultural production.

Research Theme

  1. Environment control for biology (Phytotron, Growth chamber, Air and light conditions)
  2. Plant instrumentation (Plant growth, Plant water relations, Photosynthesis, Respiration, Translocation)
  3. Environmental botany (Environmental stress, Environmental effect on plants, Plant water relations)
  4. Advanced agriculture (Greenhouse technology, Plant factory)
