What is JDS program ?

Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) program offers full scholarships for graduate students who come from the Japanese grant aid recipient countries. The JDS project is one of ODA grants run by JICA and aim to support human resource development of the target countries.

JDS fellows are expected to contribute to the socio-economic development of their country, by actively engaging in policy formulation and implementation of social and economic, development policies when they complete the program and return to their home country. JDS Fellows are also expected to contribute to the enhanced bilateral relations between their countries and Japan, with well-rounded knowledge of Japan.

The JDS program

  • Targets highly capable young officials (mainly government)
  • Offers 2-year Master course or 3-year PhD course taught in English at Japanese Universities
  • Provides a special opportunity for directly learning the forefront knowledge in the technological environment as well as for building the wide human networks.
