The following researches are currently underway in the laboratory of Applied Microbiology, Kyushu University.
As above, we are dealing with a variety of microorganisms including aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, yeast and fungi. Our goal is engineering microorganisms which exhibit novel and enhanced capabilities in the production of enzymes, biologically active substances, and chemical compounds. We are also breeding microorganisms for the degradation of environmental pollutants.
Basic technologies used in our laboratory are as follows.
(I) Screening of microorganisms of interest, which include aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, yeast and fungi.
(II) Purification of enzymes (III) Gene cloning and manipulation (IV) Protein engineering
(V) Molecular evolutionary engineering (VI) Molecular breeding of microorganisms.Research Activities
