Agro-environmental Sciences

The multifaceted and comprehensive approach is crucially required to solve a variety of environmental problems widely ranging from global scale to regional scale, and to establish the sustainable society. The Department of Agro-environmental Sciences provides interdisciplinary knowledge and problem-solving skills through creative thinking related to agro-environmental sciences under the fundamental principle of agricultural production and utilization of bioresources in harmony with environment. The department consists of four educational courses of Forest Sciences, Bioproduction Environmental Sciences, Agronomy and Environmental Sciences, and Sustainable Bioresources Science.

Bioproduction Environmental Sciences

overview

For ensuring sustainable and profitable agriculture as well as for producing safe & high quality foods under global and regional environment, sciences on agro-ecosystem, rural amenities and bioproduction systems are expected to play important roles. This “Bioproduction and Environmental Sciences Course” provides academic training of engineering methodologies on sustainable agriculture and development mainly related to soil-water management, irrigation and drainage systems, water environment, environmental soil engineering, geochemistry, agricultural meteorology, environmental information, farm machinery, postharvest technology, etc.

Forest Environmental Sciences

overview

This educational course of Forest Sciences aims to learn the knowledge and techniques to harmonize efficient utilization of forest resources and environmental conservation toward sustainable society. This course also encourages comprehensive and international intelligence through the basic and applied studies.

Sustainable Bioresources Sciences

overview

Forest biomass has attractied much attention as renewable, strategic resources in sustainable society and industries. A new conception and approaches to boost science and technology for the sustainable utilization of forest bioresources in harmony with nature are required to establish the forthcoming eco-society. This educational course provides fundamental subjects and up-to-date professional training covering chemistry, biology and physics of non-food photosynthetic resources, and brings up researchers and engineers with advanced knowledge on Wood Science, Wood Material Technology, Forest Chemistry and Biochemistry, Bioresources Chemistry, and Systematic Forest and Forest Products Sciences.
