Biomaterial Design
In the natural world, various patterns such as shapes, colors, and movements are closely related to the functions of living things. By studying these patterns and designing new patterns, we believe that we can bring out superior properties and functions beyond what we can naturally see. Based on this concept, our laboratory aims to create functional materials with a unique three-dimensional structure. It is often said industrially that material formation using living organisms takes time. However, you can make things without using a lot of energy. In future manufacturing, it will be necessary to proceed while looking at both the time axis and the energy load. The biomaterial design laboratory is exploring new methods of constructing materials by using “Bio-Alchemy”, which is scientific yet beautiful research and development, with the motto “Beautiful alchemy using water and biological functions.”
