Erosion Control
In a fascinating account of how to neglect the forest management and the erosion of woodlands toppled empires and wiped out entire civilization since ancient times, they say we should establish a more desirable relationship between human beings and forests.
This division offers various programs designed to provide students with the basic knowledge of forest science relating to Forest Engineering, Disaster Prevention and Erosion Control in woodlands, and Forest Environment in mountainous regions.
To mitigate sediment disaster, it is important to forecast the occurrence of landslides, and fix the hazard map in a mountainous watershed. As the basic research, geological-geomorphological process and interaction between sediment related disaster and forest vegetation on slope system are studied in our laboratory. Also, some new countermeasures for slope stability and erosion control are designed with revegetation works.
