International Conference on Frontier Areas of Science and Technology (ICFAST 2025), October 10-11, India

Members of the Nakamura Laboratory participated in the International Conference on Frontier Areas of Science and Technology (ICFAST), an international conference that brought together researchers from a wide range of scientific and technological fields.

ICFAST featured interdisciplinary sessions covering frontier areas of science and technology. A major highlight of the conference was the keynote lecture series delivered by Dr. Akira Yoshino, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry (2019) for his pioneering work on lithium-ion batteries, and Padma Shri awardee Professor (Emeritus) Eluvathingal D. Jemmis of the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. These keynote lectures offered broad perspectives on how fundamental scientific research can drive technological innovation and contribute to addressing pressing societal challenges.

A central highlight of the laboratory’s participation was the invited oral presentation by Professor Mako Nakamura, in which she introduced the laboratory’s research on cultured meat and cell-based production systems. Her talk emphasized biologically grounded approaches to muscle cell development and tissue formation, which stimulated active discussion with researchers from diverse disciplines, clearly showcasing the laboratory’s research direction and expertise.

In addition, Dr. Harsha Prakash (Assistant Professor, Project) presented a poster describing recent research from the laboratory. The poster attracted strong interest during the session and was selected for the Best Poster Award.

Participation in ICFAST contributed to the dissemination of the laboratory’s research activities and to academic exchange with researchers from diverse fields.
