Students enrolled in the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) of Faculty of Agriculture can apply for the Dual Degree (DD) Program, which allows them to study abroad at Northern Arizona University (USA) while remaining enrolled at Kyushu University.
By completing part of their undergraduate studies overseas, students can earn two bachelor’s degrees within four years, without extending their standard study period.

The Dual Degree Program integrates undergraduate study at Kyushu University with approximately one academic year of study abroad in the United States.

Students can earn the NAU bachelor’s degree in Biology within the same timeframe as the standard IUP program, without extending their time to graduation.
2) When will I study overseas, and for how long?
Students will study overseas for approximately nine months, from the end of August of their second year to May of their third year.
After returning to Kyushu University, students will take face-to-face courses during the summer quarter of their third year.

Applications are accepted once a year, in January of the sophomore year.

Course Requirements
- 32 of the 82 credits in Specialized Courses must be taken at Northern Arizona University.
- Students must fulfill graduation requirements in the remaining Specialized Courses, including:
Technical Communication, Tutorial, Common Basic and Specialized Subjects, Laboratory Subjects, Fieldwork Practice Subjects, and Thesis. - Graduation research must be conducted at Kyushu University, and the graduation thesis must be completed and assessed.
English Proficiency Requirements
Starting with the 2026 application cycle, students enrolled in Kyushu University’s International Undergraduate Program (IUP)arenot required to submit separate proof of English proficiency. Instead, a letter of confirmation from the IUP Program Director is required.
Tuition Fees
Do I have to pay tuition fees to both Kyushu University and NAU?
Yes—for Kyushu University, and no—for NAU.
Under the student exchange agreement, students pay tuition fees only to Kyushu University. Tuition fees at NAU are waived.
