Research

We perform studies of phylogenetic systematics, ecology, and biogeography focusing on Asian and Pacific insects to establish an effective basis for biodiversity conservation. Plant protection and habitat conservation are also targeted based on studies of various insect communities including pests and beneficial insects. During over 100 years of our university’s history, about 4,000,000 insect specimens have been accumulated in the Kyushu University and many valuable specimens are utilized by various researchers globally.
