Educational Policy

Basically, each person has its own theme. To deal with environmental issues and aging society (prevention of aging diseases, search for bioactive substances, development of cosmetics, recycling, bioremediation, phytoremediation, etc.) using forest resources (woods, mushrooms, etc.), we teach students a wide range of technologies and the way of thinking, for chemical, biochemical, and molecular biological approaches.

Morning Meeting

Every morning at 9:15, we have a meeting with all laboratory members for about 20 minutes. At that time, we will check the condition of the equipment in the laboratory and notify some important information. We also hold safety guide course during morning meeting. Since there are many foreign staff and international students in our laboratory, morning meetings are held in English, so we can brush up our English.

Zemi (Seminar)

We hold a seminar every Tuesday from 1pm. On the seminar, students take turn to do a presentation about own study schedule, progress report or introduce research paper. Please see the detail below.

(１)Study Schedule Presentation

Study Schedule Presentation is held on April and October. You need to prepare annual and monthly research schedule based on the last year research data. You can get advice from professors and other laboratory members and brush up your research plan to do experiment smoothly.

(２)Progress Report

We will summarize the results of the research so far in word file, and report it in front of everyone. At this time, putting the research results in word file, it will be useful when writing a graduation thesis or master’s thesis. Also, by listening to other people’s presentations, you can learn about different fields and research methods. This gives you a broad perspective which is important skill for research. Having doubt is another important skill for research. Even for a senior student’s presentation, if we have any questions about the content, we will actively ask questions. By the time you graduate, you will have the ability to have a good discussion.

(３)Article Study

The progress of science and technology is tremendous, and the knowledge of just a few years ago often does not work. In the article study, we will read the articles within the past three years and provide the participants with new and useful information. Also, the purpose of this study is to discuss the article contents critically.
