Sanitary Entomology
Our lab was established in 2018 as a part of the “Insect Science and Creative Entomology Center (ISCEC)”. We have a lot of collaboration with the laboratories in the ISCEC.
Our Aims
– Understanding insect-borne pathogens (especially viruses)
– Developing methods controlling insect-borne infectious diseases
Insects and Viruses
Sanitary Entomology deals insect that causes human and animal health problems. In those, we are focusing on blood-sucking insects and viruses transmitted by them.
Study
We are trying to discover new viruses from insects that have not been identified previously. These include arthropod-borne viruses (arboviruses) and insect-specific viruses. We aim to understand the function of new viruses and try to develop new methods for controlling insect-borne diseases.
