The Institute of Tropical Agriculture (ITA)
conducts research and education
focused on unique issues in tropical regions. Through its research and educational activities, the ITA engages in international cooperation with developing countries,
builds global networks among researchers, and collects specimens and research samples.

About Us

The ITA, established in 1975,
is a center for shared education and research.

Our mission is to advance fundamental research related to tropical agriculture and the environment, encompassing fields such as forestry, biology, entomology, horticulture, soil science, and water engineering.
Our faculty members are responsible for graduate education in the Graduate School of Bioresources and Bioenvironmental Sciences and the Graduate School of Integrated Sciences for Global Society.
Additionally, we contribute to international cooperation through our research and educational initiatives.
