Forest Conservation in the Global Warming Problem

Forest Conservation in the Global Warming Problem

In the negotiation process of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), a new forest conservation concept called REDD-plus (Reducing Emissions of Greenhouse Gases by Reducing Degradation and Declines in Developing Countries) was born. The stakeholders in REDD-plus, such as developed countries and developing countries, are competing with each other over how to handle this value. We are conducting research on stakeholder participation methods and benefit sharing in REDD-plus, with a focus on Southeast Asia.
REDD-plus is also concerned with the interrelationships between different scales, with global global environmental issues having significant impacts on local populations at the local level in tropical Asia.
